Coronavirus LIVE Updates April 14: India recorded 1,84,372 new Covid-19 cases in a span of 24 hours, breaking the record ever since the pandemic began last year. With 1,84,372 new Covid-19 cases, India’s positive cases tally has mounted to 1,38,73,825, while a total of 1,027 people succumbed to the Covid-19 infection in the last 24 hours, pushing the toll to 1,72,085. As India reels under a severe Covid-19 wave, several states have imposed partial but stricter curbs. On Tuesday, the Maharashtra government announced over a 15-day-long statewide curfew from 8 pm on April 14 till 7 am on May 1. Meanwhile, the Madhya Pradesh government issued an order stating that restrictions currently in place to tackle a surge in Covid-19 cases were part of “corona curfew” and should not be termed as “lockdown”. Also, the Haryana government revised coronavirus-induced night curfew timings from the existing 9 pm to 5 am to 10 pm to 5 am with immediate effect. Besides this, some states including Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra are witnessing a shortage of hospital beds and vaccine doses.
